YOKOSUKA ARTS FOUNDATION

Yokosuka Arts Foundation was established in 1991, in order to manage and operate the Yokosuka Arts Theatre, which opened in February 1994. From 2006, Yokosuka Arts Foundation has been designated as an administrative organization by Yokosuka City.

Yokosuka Arts Theatre where NEUE STIMMEN 2019 preliminary auditions will be held again this time consists of a large theatre, an authentic opera house and a small versatile theatre. At these venues, Yokosuka Arts Foundation provides a lot of theatrical productions and concerts ranging from opera, ballet, musicals, classical music, jazz and other performing arts groups within and out of the country.

It also aims to foster young talented musicians by hosting or co-hosting Minoru Nojima Piano competition, Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition, Fresh Artists from Yokosuka Recital Series. In addition, it has been giving Yokosuka-citizens opportunities to participate, practice and perform by organizing Yokosuka Arts Theatre Chorus and the little singers of the theatre. It has been hosting the International Singing Competition NEUE STIMMEN preliminary audition in Asia since 1997,in order to disco ver and support young Asian singers, as well as to promote opera widely in an around Yokosuka.
