BERTELSMANN STIFTUNG

The Bertelsmann Group, based in Germany, which operates media industries (newspaper, publication, broadcasting, recording, etc.) internationally founded the Bertelsmann Stiftung in 1977. It is one of Germany's largest foundations financing more than 70 non-profit projects with its budget of 90.2 million Euros in 2017 fiscal year.

The foundation is active in culture and education, international understanding, democracy and civic society, economic and social affairs and health issues in order to contribute to the social benefit. The best example of the cultural activities is the NEUE STIM MEN International Singing Competition , held in Guetersloh, Germany every two years. During the last competition, close to 1,500 singers applied for auditions all over the world. This competition aims to provide young opera singers with a platform, thereby giving them effective support and a professional setting in which to perform.

The competition is also a place for people of different nationalities to meet and communicate. Moreover, it fulfills a social duty to preserve and carry on the classical music tradition.
